An Open Studios event is an excellent way for artists to promote their work, strengthen relationships with their collectors and share their work with new visitors. For art-lovers, it is a unique opportunity to see artwork in the setting where it was created, meet the artists in a relaxed atmosphere and perhaps find just the right painting or sculpture for their home or business.
I co-founded an Open Studios in rural upstate New York almost a decade ago and I know what a powerful event it can be for artists and visitors alike.
As a service to visual artists and art-lovers worldwide, I’m building a comprehensive online Directory of Open Studios.
I am inviting all Open Studios organizers to list your event – for free – in what I hope will be the largest international directory of Open Studios for visual artists.
Here’s how to submit: Submit a Listing.
Most people don’t realize all the work that goes into an Open Studios. For the artists, studios must be cleaned – often a huge task in and of itself – labels printed, invitations sent, artwork arranged, road signs installed. (Many of us are still creating artwork right up to the opening day!) The organizers are often artists themselves who volunteer their time to pull it all together. They hold meetings, create brochures, write press releases, manage social media and worry about every detail. I applaud each and every one of you for all the work you do to create these events that inspire us all.
Spread the word and send this along to your Open Studios organizer! It will be a great resource for art-lovers everywhere and may encourage new visitors to your event!
